Silversmiths in Surin, northeastern Thailand use simple tools to create distinctive beads from pure silver. The decorative patterns are hand-etched onto the surface of each bead. This painstaking intricate process, from the centuries-old Khmer Angkor kingdom , survives in only one small community. The focal point of this necklace is four silver etched leaf pendants (approximately 0.5 inches long), which are accented by silver, raw colored quartz, jade, and tiny quartz beads. The closure is a claw clasp. The 3 inch extension chain is accented with a silver bead and a fifth silver leaf that dangles lightly on the back of the neck. The necklace is approximately 18 inches long including the extension chain.
